The Northern Territory Government confirms its investment to build a National Aboriginal Art Gallery in Alice Springs at the preferred location, Anzac Hill Precinct.
Initial community feedback indicated that residents wanted more comprehensive engagement in relation to the project. Listening to this feedback, a targeted three-month community engagement program was launched, running from 6 June to 31 August 2018.
Aboriginal people are integral to this project. There have been initial conversations with Aboriginal stakeholders, and the Northern Territory Government will continue to engage with the Traditional Owners, the Traditional Custodians, Aboriginal people and the Aboriginal organisations in Alice Springs to ensure that the National Aboriginal Art Gallery is the national leader in sharing Australian Aboriginal art, culture and stories with the rest of Australia and beyond.
