The Territory Government is committed to open and transparent discussions with Territorians.

Community consultation will allow Territorians the opportunity to provide feedback on these significant arts and culture infrastructure projects.

Consultation timeframes are outlined below.

Arts Trail Infrastructure projects

National Aboriginal Art Gallery

Consultation approach on the preferred site for the Iconic National Indigenous Art Gallery will be informed by the Iconic National Indigenous Art Gallery Steering Committee and a community consultation process. A Steering Committee report has been lodged with Government which identifies and provides options and recommendations on the project’s development, construction, establishment and operations.

Consultation process

  • The Northern Territory Government is considering the feedback regarding the preferred site. Details regarding the consultation program can still be viewed at https://haveyoursay.nt.gov.au/liveAlice

Timing

  • A decision regarding the preferred site is anticipated for early 2018.

National Aboriginal Cultural Centre

Preliminary consultation by Nganampa Development Corporation has commenced and will continue over the next six months. A report will then be provided to government.

Consultation process

  • Preliminary consultation is led by Nganampa Development Corporation.

Timing

  • Q3 & Q4 2017

Arts Trail Gallery Extension Program

Targeted consultation will be conducted with recipients of funding

Consultation process

  • Consultation will be conducted with key stakeholders in Tennant Creek, Katherine and Arnhem Land.

Timing

  • Q1 2018

A new development at Myilly Point

Consultation on the new Museum at Myilly Point was delivered by expert architects toppo+ARM.

Consultation process

  • A report has been lodged with Government and will be made available in the coming months.

Timing

  • Q4 2017

Art Gallery at Darwin’s State Square

Consultation on a new Art Gallery as part of the Darwin State Square redevelopment will be conducted under the 10-Year Museums Master Plan for Darwin and Palmerston. This was led by contractor, Hames Sharley.
